Restoration and reproduction are a big part of what we do here at Fattori Fine Frames. When we found this video put out by The National Gallery of England, we immediately wanted to share it with all of you.
It provides a wonderful insight into why proper restoration and or reproduction of a frame is critical in preserving the artists intent. The frame is essential to how we look at and experience the artwork. Having the knowledge of framing history, allows us to properly pair a frame and painting to their perspective periods.
